MARTIN LUTHER KING JR MOBILE MURAL
This mobile mural was constructed and designed by Margaret Murray on behalf of the City of Redding Parks Department, and she guided over 100 Summer Camp students at 3 different camps to participate in the collaborative collage. This artwork was made in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. and the designs were inspired by various textile patterns, chosen by each individual student. The mural is made up of 4 panels 4’ x 3’, which together form a 4’ x 12’ piece. This mural was completed in Summer of 2023
Each student was invited to choose colors, patterns, and symbols that were important to them, and use those to decorate the background and add to the collage. This 4’ x 12’ mobile mural now resides at the City of Redding Parks and Recreation Department and is displayed at the Martin Luther King Jr. Recreation center.
