MURAL FOR REDDING SCHOOL DISTRICT, CA
This project was made possible by an Art Education Grant from the Redding Elementary School District in Redding, California. Artist Margaret Murray was hired to design and execute this mural at Manzanita Elementary School while instructing and guiding the students. Grades 2nd - 5th were invited to contribute to the completion of this mural, assisted by the artist. Completed in May 2024.
The Students of Manzanita were able to contribute to the completion of this mural, leaving a lasting impression on their school. The mural includes local landmarks as well as flora that is native to California, so the students were given a brief lesson on their environment, as well as being taught hands-on skills.
This mural honors the stunning views and expansive skyline of the Redding Valley. The art features the prominent Mount Shasta, the rolling hills of Millville Plains, the signature silhouette of Mount Lassen, and the beautiful Burney Falls. The layout of this mural represents the east-to-west journey of these landmarks.
